Relaxed autumn sketching of the environment around the gardens or in the Kibble
Meet inside the Kibble Palace glasshouse, which is at the East side of the gardens near the Byres Road/ Great Western Road entrance (or alternatively we may gather just outside the Kibble Palace entrance).
Art materials and paper provided (if you like you can bring a sketchbook)
Complete beginners welcome, if the weather is wet we can draw inside the warm glasshouse.
The Botanic Gardens and Kibble Palace is a great spot for enjoying some peaceful drawing. Close to the Kelvin River, the gardens are a haven with mature trees and all sorts of plants and flowers. The glasshouses are varied in design with the Kibble (located to this site from Loch Long in 1873) an elegant, long, mysterious curving shape which harmonically sits in the grounds. Inside, the ferns and shapes of the cacti are fascinating 🙂
This is a very relaxed group, there will be no pressure to make any finished drawings, the emphasis is just to be there together and enjoy some mark making and sketching in the location. We will start with some doodly fun drawings before settling down for one or two longer drawings. We will enjoy working with our own materials pack with different papers, pencils, pens and pastels.
Blair will lead the session with some demos and give friendly guidance and suggestions if you need any help, and you will have freedom to walk in and around the building and area to find views and objects you would like to look at and draw. It will be nice to have some time to take in the atmosphere and being aware of the environment and details we might not have noticed before.
Come along and enjoy some fun drawings!
No booking is needed.

Blair organises, runs and co-runs several events, many of which are art and meditation related. Some are free community groups and others have an admission charge, most are through the D+P Studio and some Glasgow Zen Group. Please have a look at each event and feel free to come along and join!
