Enjoy trying out Suibokuga (also called Sansui) painting.
We will use traditional materials, working with the unique colours of Japanese ink and water based paints, mark making with Japanese brushes on washi paper, guided by the textures, curving lines and rocky shapes of the garden. Japanese garden design was at one point itself inspired by Sansui landscape ink painting, so this will be a harmony of two related art forms. As well as painting we will spend some time looking at the textures and shapes in the garden and work on some smaller sketches.
